How Funders Discover Projects

Standard & Professional This feature is available on all plans.

One of the unique benefits of the Catholic Funding Guide is two-way discovery. While you’re searching for funders, funders are also browsing the platform looking for organizations and projects to support.

When you publish a project, it becomes visible to funders who use the Catholic Funding Guide. Funders can browse projects and find organizations whose missions and needs align with their funding priorities. Your project’s interest areas, geographic focus, and populations served help funders find relevant matches.

To give your project the best chance of attracting funder attention:

  • Write a clear, specific title — Avoid vague names. “After-School Tutoring Program for At-Risk Youth in Chicago” is better than “Youth Program.”
  • Describe your project thoroughly — Use the description field to explain what the project does, why it matters, and who it serves. Funders want to understand the impact of their investment.
  • Be specific about outcomes — Use the outcomes and milestones section to describe what success looks like. Concrete, measurable goals are more compelling than general statements.
  • Choose accurate tags — Select the interest areas, geographic focus, and populations served that genuinely match your project. This helps the right funders find you.
  • Keep your contact information current — Make sure the contact person listed on the project is someone who can respond promptly to funder inquiries.
  • Reactivate before expiration — Projects are automatically deactivated after 90 days. If your project is still active, reactivate it to keep it visible.
